Here are some of my sketches and notes from the Spectrum Live conference. I’m running on a few hours of sleep right now, so I might revisit my impressions later, but overall it was just an amazing experience to be among some of the best artists in the industry. My favorite part was the palpable sense of community that was the hallmark of the weekend: everyone agreed that it felt more of an industry conference (or a big gathering of friends!) than a convention like SDCC or something. I wouldn’t be surprised if over half the attendees were artists themselves.
I am particularly proud of the MCA students who took advantage of the dorm situation I helped put together and immersed themselves for one heck of a weekend. I could only dream of attending something like this as an undergrad.
They networked, got portfolio reviews, and a couple of them scored some work!
I loved meeting some of my heroes, as well as making some new friends. And of course, catching up with old ones! Here’s to next year!
